“Rana Aruna Udanaya”, Seva Vanitha Avurudu Pola – 2012 was held with grand success at Panagoda on 7th and 8th April 2012.
Armour undertook three stalls which earned substantial profits. Armour Café; with a verity of cuisines, the utility stores and the garment stall were huge attractions. Armour Juniors Club organized mobile Donut outlets.
President of the Army Seva Vanitha Branch and the Armour Ladies Club, Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya declared open the Garment Store and Commander of the Army and the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, Lt Gen Jagath Jayasuriya VSV USP ndu psc declared open the Utility Store.
Profit of this effort, in total, would be handed over to the Army Seva Vanitha Branch, to be utilized in felicitating soldiers and their families of the Sri Lanka Army.
Lt Gen A K Singh AVSM SM VSM ADC, the General Officer Commanding in Chief of the Southern Army Command of the Indian Army visited the Rock House Camp on 12th March 2012.
He visited the Armoured Corps Museum and penned down his appreciation in the Visitors’ Book.
Annual General Meeting – 2012 of the Armour Ladies Club was held in grand scale on 10th March 2012 at the Rock House Camp.
The President of Army Seva Vanitha Branch and Armour Ladies Club, Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya attended as the Chief Guest. The day’s proceedings started with the inauguration of the AGM at 0900 hrs. After the AGM, a Guest Lecture was conducted. Cavalry Junior Club Meeting was also held. Ms Deshani Jayasuriya presided the meeting.
Many other activities held coinciding the Ladies Club AGM. Commander of the Army and the Colonel Commandant SLAC, Lt Gen Jagath Jayasuriya VSV USP ndu psc and the family also attended the event with all families of married SLAC Officers.
An Inter Regiment Soft Ball Tournament, a musical show, activities for kids including Cinema Shows were organized. The Tombola was an exciting event where all the families enjoyed. The day’s events terminated with lunch for which all members of the Armour Ladies Club, their spouses and the kids attended.
Officers Mess Project of the Rock House Camp was inaugurated on 05th March 2012 by the Commander of the Army and the Colonel Commandant SLAC, Lt Gen J Jayasuriya VSV USP ndu psc, giving prominence to religious and cultural rituals.
Lt Gen Jayasuriya attended the ground breaking and foundation laying ceremonies at auspicious timings felled early in the morning of 05th March.
All members of the Regimental Council and Commanding Officers of SLAC Regiments attended the event.
The Commander of the Army visited the site and went through the plan before joining for breakfast with all Officers present.
1st Engineer Services Regiment has undertaken the project.
The Inter SLAC Regiment Drill Competition – 2012 was held at the 3 Armoured Regiment on 02nd March 2012. Commander 212 Brigade, Col Athula Ariyaratne graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The 3 Armoured Regiment emerged Champions for the second consecutive year. 1st Reconnaissance Regiment became Runners Up while 8th (RFT) Regiment securing the 3rd Place.
Commandant of the Armoured Corps Training Centre and Commanding Officers of SLAC Regiments attended the event.
3 Armoured Regiment organized the Drill Competition. Championship Trophy was received by the Drill Squad Commander of the 3 Armoured Regiment, Capt Darshana Illankoon. Capt Ushan Ranaweera of 1st Recce Regiment clinched the best Commander’s Trophy.
A felicitation ceremony for 75 disabled soldiers of SLAC was organized by 10 SLAC and the 10 SLAC Seva Vanitha Branch on 27th February 2012.
This event was organized with the unreserved sponsorship of the Chairman of the Dasa Group of Companies.
The Centre Commandant SLAC, Col Indunil De Silva RSP & Mrs Silva, Commanding Officer 10 SLAC, Lt Col Anil Peiris psc & Mrs Peiris, along with other Officers and their families attended the event.
Members of the Armour Lades Club organized a felicitation ceremony for the inmate war heroes on 18th February 2012 at the Abhimansala at Anuradhapura.
Vice President of the Armour Ladies Club, Mrs Shirani Udawatte and the membership attended the event. The Centre Commandant SLAC, Col Induni De Silva RSP and many other senior Officers also attended.
Armour Ladies visited each and every inmate and treated them. A verity show with music, dancing events and a magic show was organized during the lunch.
The event was organized under the patronage of the President of the Armour Ladies Club, Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya.
Brig Indunil Ranasinghe RWP RSP psc handed over his duties as the Centre Commandant SLAC on 9th February 2012 to take up a new appointment at the newly raised Army Training Command.
Col Indunil de Silva RSP took over the reigns as the new Centre Commandant SLAC. Brig Ranasinghe after handing over the Office, joined for an all ranks tea party. During his speech for all Officers and appointment holders of the Regimental Centre, Brig Ranasinghe expressed his willingness to extend any support to the Corps at any time of need.
